For those who don’t know me by name, I’m also known around town as “The Triplets’ Mom.” Our children are currently 3rd graders at NBCS, where they are thriving with the support of our excellent teachers and faculty.

My husband Eddie and I moved to New Boston in 2017 to be closer to family and (like many) for the amazing schools. We knew right away New Boston was special and lived up to the reputation of small-town life.

We’ve made many wonderful friends here over five years - both through our connection to the school and volunteer positions. I see my candidacy for School Board as another way to give back to a community and school that has welcomed and supported us through both good and challenging times.

It’s been my pleasure to volunteer for many causes and events in New Boston. It’s given me a chance to learn more about our town and meet many of the people that make New Boston special.

The Duck Race Committee - The Duck Race was one of the first events we learned about when we moved to town, so it holds a special place in my heart. It brings together our entire community and raises money for scholarships that benefit our New Boston students as they move on to higher education. I’ve been a member of the Duck Race Committee for three years.

Cubs “Den Mom” Troop 123 - Together with another Scout mom, I helped run our Tigers program. We raised money for the Troop, planned and participated in enrichment activities, and enjoyed educational field trips with our New Boston Scouts.

Election Worker - During the first year of the pandemic, I volunteered for our New Boston primary election in order to provide coverage for our dedicated polling staff. Volunteering allowed me to better appreciate all the hard work that goes into providing a safe, smooth voting experience for our citizens.

Lending a Hand - I enjoy making time to support the many fundraising events that support our school and organizations: Contributing to raffle baskets, election bake sales, the Community Church craft fair (for Little People’s Depot), volunteering my writing services for ads and announcements. I believe even a few hours of time dedicated to a good cause can make a positive impact on our results.

I've been a business writer for finance and technology companies for over 13 years. It’s a multi-faceted role that challenges me to understand different approaches, think outside the box, and operate as part of a larger team.

  • Through my career, I've developed the skills to research and analyze complex information and share it in ways that help people make informed choices. I enjoy digging into a problem and working to understand how to reach the best outcome.

  • Collaboration plays a big role in my work. I'm a team player, and I enjoy coming up with creative solutions to sticky problems. I believe there is always a way to get to "yes" by talking through it. I will bring this collaborative approach to my work on the School Board.

  • As a small business owner with three young children, I understand the balance parents have to strike in staying connected to their children’s education while meeting many other obligations. I’m committed to being a partner for parents. I will advocate for them, include them in the conversation, and keep them informed.

New Boston Voters should vote for me if they want a candidate who:

  • Values the talent and competence of our teachers and staff.

I believe our educators are the heart of our success, helping us raise children that not only meet standardized testing benchmarks, but enjoy their studies and take pride in their educational achievements.

I’m a strong advocate for teacher-parent partnership. I believe we can and should trust our faculty to make sound curriculum choices for our students. Social-emotional learning plays a key role in helping our students develop resilience and meet academic goals; therefore, I’m an advocate for tools and programs that help our educators develop these skills in students.

  • Believes in the power of whole-child learning.

I am a strong supporter of music, arts, humanities, and world language enrichment that helps our children apply their “Core Four” learning and develop skills in creative ways. I do not believe these core domains should be elective, discretionary, or relegated to a screen-only experience. I support arts and music programs as places of belonging and achievement for our students. These programs are a treasured part of our educational traditions, and a prime reason New Boston consistently ranks high in education while maintaining one of the lowest per-student costs in the state.

  • Listens widely and values consensus

The past two years have tested our personal limits and our community bonds. I am seeking a seat on the School Board to help our town navigate the next chapter together.

I believe our children are looking to us as models of how to resolve conflict and reach consensus. I don’t subscribe to zero-sum thinking or “us versus them” fights, because it doesn’t reflect our small-town community values. I believe our whole school community wants what’s best for our students, and by committing to moving forward together in a spirit of cooperation and civility, we can achieve it.

  • Supports common-sense public health measures

As the COVID-19 pandemic recedes, our schools and public spaces will continue to address concerns and navigate change. I support reasonable policies that keep our schools open while protecting the right of every child to receive a safe and high-quality education. I will continue to follow verified data from our State and Federal health officials, and listen to the concerns of parents in meeting students’ individual needs.
